Dessert in the Desert

Dessert in the desert is a rare thing,

So a full pack you must be sure to bring.

Sand makes not a meal and is not as sweet

As a tasty treat on a sand dune seat.

Desert not provisions, keep them in mind,

Dessert in the desert, you will then find.

English Summer.

One layer, two, three, even more,

These you will need when you venture outdoors.

Better wrap up, July is here,

Dark rain clouds abound at this time of year.

Wait, what is this? Is that the sun?

We’ll wear rain coats and shorts before we’re done.

The Evolution of Fire.

Atop the world doth burn eternal sun,

over the Earth ’till Armageddon come.

The bringer of light and bringer of life,

the cause of much joy, and of as much strife.

From the beginning of humanity,

the flame of the gods held the vital key;

man’s role became inexorably higher,

when his ancestor first discovered fire.

Humanity’s passion like flame hath burned,

for many a year that the earth hath turned;

’til all man’s creations put upon the pyre,

and burn them away in the final fire.
